Elastomeric membrane roofing is composed of a base layer made of polyester reinforcement (rigid structure) coated with bitumen, and a thick finishing layer of bitumen mixed with SBS polymers. It is supplied in rolls.

The base layer is mechanically fastened across the entire roof surface, while the top layer is rolled out and softened using a torch. The two layers fuse together to form a seamless, rubber-like membrane that fits into every corner of the flat roof.

Granules are embedded in the top layer to increase durability. Once cured, the system provides complete watertightness.

Thanks to the polymer added to the bitumen, elastomeric membrane roofing is thick, strong and durable, with a lifespan of up to 35 years. It resists harsh weather, UV degradation and rot.

Grey granules help reduce heat inside the building or home, and a rooftop terrace can even be installed.

The elastomeric membrane manufacturer SOPREMA recommends having the membrane inspected and maintained twice a year, before and after winter, so that small cracks can be repaired and granules can be added if needed.
