Why is elastomeric membrane roofing so watertight?
Double-layer elastomeric membrane roofing is made up of two membranes that are softened and heat-fused using a torch to form a single rubber-like layer that fits into every corner of the roof and seals the surface effectively.
The base membrane consists of a rigid polyester reinforcement coated with bitumen (underlayment), while the top layer is made of bitumen mixed with SBS polymers and embedded granules.
Once hardened after installation, this seamless membrane provides complete watertightness. Our roofers then seal flashing around skylights, vents and roof exhaust fans to prevent any water infiltration at these points.
